The fishing public is invited to come by and scoop up on some great deals - including a few of a lifetime - on fly fishing gear, fishing art, outdoor gear, and great guided trips. For example, a custom 3-weight bamboo rod by Joel Hubscher, one of his most highly-sought after rods worth $1800!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The trips up for auction include a guided trip for two on a Texas Hill Country river, with all equipment, food, flies, and leaders provided, by Kevin Hutchinson, of HillCountry Fly Fishers, and a trip to Big Kiamichi Ranch in Antlers, Oklahoma, including lodging, for fishing on 5 spring fed lakes! The clinic teaches fundamentals of the sport of fly fishing, such as equipment and presentation, along with hands-on learning in skills such as casting, leaders and knots, and fly tying.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The clinic is free to members of FFF clubs, and $25 for non club members (which covers 1-year membership in RSFF). Twelve (12)&lt;br /&gt;youngsters between the ages of 14-18 will be invited for a 4-day fly tying and&lt;br /&gt;fly fishing adventure. All meals, lodging, airport shuttles and guides will be&lt;br /&gt;provided free of charge. Air transportation to Billings or transportation&lt;br /&gt;directly to Fort Smith must be secured by the participant’s parents, guardian&lt;br /&gt;or fly fishing club, -EXCEPT- there are also a limited number of travel&lt;br /&gt;assistance grants available for youngsters who would otherwise be unable to&lt;br /&gt;attend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The dates for the Bighorn Youth Adventure will be June 23 through 26, 2011 with&lt;br /&gt;a travel day before and after. All clubs and councils and individuals are more&lt;br /&gt;than welcome to encourage applications from young fly fishers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Anyone who is interested in applying for this opportunity must fill out an&lt;br /&gt;application form. The form asks for names and addresses of both parents and&lt;br /&gt;applicants, questions regarding angler experience, health and diet questions,&lt;br /&gt;and more. There are also three essay questions at the conclusion of the&lt;br /&gt;application. Location is LDWF's Waddill Outdoors Education Center on 4141 Flannery Road in Baton Rouge. Time is 8:30am to 4:00pm. The largest annual fly fishing event in the eastern part of the council is free and family-friendly. Activities include: Programs, Fly Tying demos, Casting demos, Kayak and Canoe demos, Cooking demos, Exhibitors, Fishing on premises, Free refreshments, a Jambalaya lunch, raffle with nearly 100 items, and more! For their vigintennial celebration of this event, special guest will be Gary Borger. For over 40 years, Gary has been involved in our sport as an author, teacher, lecturer, magazine writer, photographer, conservationist, and more. He combines his knowledge as a Ph.D. professor of aquatic biology with a lifetime experience of fly fishing (he grew up on the banks of one of Pennsylvania's trout waters). Gary pioneered the first fly fishing and fly tying videos, and written a half-dozen books, and written and photographed for numerous magazines, and served on the board of the Federation of Fly Fishers and FFF Casting Board of Governors.
