Fort Worth Fly Fishers 2011 Auction - Tuesday, May 3

This year a new location: St. Stephen Presbyterian Church at 2700 McPherson, Fort Worth.

Time is 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

Included in the 2011 Fundraiser is a Kayak Raffle. It's a new line from Jackson Kayaks called the Coosa. This kayak handles great in both still, and moving waters. A must if you are going to fish in Texas. Raffle tickets are $20.00 per ticket, or if you want a really good deal, 5 for $100.00.

Proceeds for the fundraiser go to help our club function throughout the year. Funds will be distributed by the Board of Directors, with the majority of funds going back to various charities we support. Reel Recovery, Casting for Recovery, Project Healing Waters, and the Lower Mountain Fork River Restoration Groups. Please help make this a success by giving to support a great club, and charities.

Texas Fly Fishers Annual Auction - Sat, April 16


The Texas Fly Fishers will hold their annual Auction on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Bethany Christian Church on 3223 Westheimer in Houston. The fishing public is invited to come by and scoop up on some great deals - including a few of a lifetime - on fly fishing gear, fishing art, outdoor gear, and great guided trips. For example, a custom 3-weight bamboo rod by Joel Hubscher, one of his most highly-sought after rods worth $1800!

The trips up for auction include a guided trip for two on a Texas Hill Country river, with all equipment, food, flies, and leaders provided, by Kevin Hutchinson, of HillCountry Fly Fishers, and a trip to Big Kiamichi Ranch in Antlers, Oklahoma, including lodging, for fishing on 5 spring fed lakes! And many others, also!

Admission is FREE. Lunch is available for $9. Raffle tickets are $5. The silent auction is from 10:00am to 2:00pm, with the live auction from noon to 1:30pm. The auction provides 70% of the Texas FlyFishers annual funds and is the club's only fundraising activity. Funds are used to support their educational goals and activities.

Donations of used or new fishing equipment, related artwork, memorabilia, flies, etc can be dropped by any Houston area fly shop, or by calling 713-502-1809 for pickup. RSFF "Fly Fishing 101" - Sat, April 9


The Red Stick Fly Fishers will hold their 6th annual "Fly Fishing 101" clinic on Saturday, April 9, 2011, from 8:30am to 2:30pm, at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' Waddill Education Center at 4142 Flannery in Baton Rouge. The clinic teaches fundamentals of the sport of fly fishing, such as equipment and presentation, along with hands-on learning in skills such as casting, leaders and knots, and fly tying.

The clinic is free to members of FFF clubs, and $25 for non club members (which covers 1-year membership in RSFF). Handouts, coffee, lunch, and refreshments are provided. The club has rods, reels, fly tying vises, and materials available for instruction. However, if you have equipment, it is advised to bring it as it's best to learn on what you own.

Caddo Conclave II - April 29-30



The 2nd annual Caddo Conclave will be held Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, 2011, at Caddo State Park in Karnack, Texas. This event - cosponsored by the East Texas Fly Fishers, Lone Star Fly Fishers, and North Louisiana Fly Fishers clubs - takes place on beautiful Caddo Lake on the Louisiana-Texas border. Described as a "Hands-on Fly Fishing Experience", there's programs, fly tying demos by some of the regions creative and innovative tiers, casting sessions by FFF Certified Instructors, and of course, fishing on premises.
